«We had lessons based on individual projects (Ocean Floating Systems, Design of Ship Structures, Maritime Transportation and Ports), continuous assessment (Hydrodynamics), a group project and final exam (Shipyard Management). We had to do a lot of personal work and to conduct 4 to 6 projects simultaneously. These projects required us to learn new software which we needed to master. What was different from in France was the implication in individual projects, enabling us to learn hands-on rather than theoretical knowledge. We have also become a lot more autonomous in technical projects and become more confident in our technical knowledge.
We did try to keep some time to go surfing and to have at least one evening out in the Bairro Alto quarter with our ERASMUS friends from all over Europe. The city of Lisbon is perfect for international students, several bodies enable us to get reductions for numerous events using our student card: visits, outings, evenings etc”.
« The island of Sao Miguel is wild and rugged, between the sea and volcanoes. This trip alternated between hiking and swimming in the naturally heated pools”.
