The Mechanics Department: "Institut de Recherche Dupuy de Lôme" (CNRS - FRE 3744)

It is a laboratory of ENSTA Bretagne, Université de Bretagne Sud (UBS), Université de Bretagne Occidentale (UBO) and the graduate engineering school ENIB. Created on 1 January 2016, it is the fruit of a merger between LBMS (Brest) and Limat-B (Lorient)and is the laboratory for Mechanical Marine and Maritime Systems in Brittany. Apart from the marine industry, the work of the IRDL also concerns the automobile, aeronautic, aerospace, health and energy sectors.

The IRDL is composed of 4 research poles:

  • composites, nanocomposites and biocomposites
  • multi-material assemblies
  • durability and diagnostics
  • multi-physics coupling

The aim of the IRDL in the short term, is to play an even bigger role at a regional, national and international level in the resolution of issues linked to the engineering of materials and systems used in the industrial sectors linked to automobiles, energy, aeronautics, health, transport and more particularly all those fields which are in dynamic interaction with the marine environment, such as maritime and offshore constructions and marine energies.
